On Saturday, 8/18/18, the PROMISE Engineering Institute in partnership with the PROMISE AGEP will be part of the Summer Success Institute (SSI) at the Hotel at Arundel Preserve, in Hanover, Maryland. The LEGENDS panel will feature Professor James West and Dr. Eugene DeLoatch, with commentary by Dr. Janet Rutledge and Dr. Darryll Pines, Dean of Engineering at The University of Maryland College Park. Engineers from the HU7 will also be on the program (Dr. Jaret Riddick, Dr. Makola Abdullah, Dr. Fred Ware, Dr. Renetta Tull, Dr. John Davis, and Dr. Carl Moore. Dr. Kimberly Jones will not be present in person). Dr. Brian Burt from Iowa State will be there to talk about his NSF Career Award, and recent paper: “It Takes a Village: The Role of Emic and Etic Adaptive Strengths in the Persistence of Black Men in Engineering Graduate Programs.”
